Job Details

Do you like programming, but also enjoy working with data? Do you like helping others to be more productive by solving problems and automating difficult tasks? Would you enjoy working with a highly effective software team at all phases of the SDLC?

Heuristic Solutions is seeking a Programmer Analyst / Web Developer to join the LearningBuilder product development team. This is a dynamic position with opportunities to wear many different hats, and learn many different things, while helping to build and support a SaaS application from our Arlington, VA office

In this position, you will play two key roles. In your primary role as Programmer Analyst you will participate on the Implementation Team to launch new LearningBuilder implementations and support existing ones. On any given day you may find yourself:

  • Writing SQL scripts to get data into or out of a large relational database
  • Performing "advanced configuration" tasks involving stored procedures, custom database views, and C# scripting
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, documenting, and fixing issues reported by the Implementation Team
  • Creating tools and utilities to automate tasks

You may also participate on the Product Development Team as a Web Developer in which you would:

  • Implement new product features, either working independently or collaborating with a Senior Engineer or Architect
  • Contribute to product design decisions in collaboration with other developers
  • Write automated tests at the unit, integration, or system level

Key indicators of success in this role are an ability to quickly learn new skills, a drive to continually improve, solid teamwork and communication skills, and an awareness of when and how to ask for help when you need it

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors Tier III support queue and resolves/escalates issues as appropriate (this is primarily an internal support queue, but may occasionally involve working directly with an external client or user)
  • Implements product features according to stated requirements, adhering to team standards for coding style, quality, approach, etc
  • Pairs with the QA team to design and implement automated tests
  • Collaborates with Business Analysts to perform advanced configuration tasks within LearningBuilder and its supporting environments
