Job Description:

PLANT MANAGER – FULL TIME

The function of the Plant Manager is to provide the necessary leadership to plan, direct, organize, coordinate and control the production of metal components of supermarket refrigerator and freezer display cases using state of the art robotic laser cutters, press brakes, automated welding equipment and a powder coat line. The product must be produced on a timely and cost efficient basis to support the demand of two other members of the Corporate Group through whom the product will flow to market. The Plant Manager will work with a CEO and Corporate Group Executive Management to ensure proper staffing and produce the proper levels of specified quality products at the Plant.


The Plant Manager will monitor productivity and efficiency to ensure the Company is fully utilizing plant equipment. In addition, the Plant Manager will work with sister company management to develop production strategies to ensure an approach to raise productivity levels, maintaining safety as a top propriety, while controlling the costs of the site.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

         Must place a priority on servicing the needs of its Corporate Group partners (its customers) while at the same time promoting and protecting the long-term interests of Sullivan Fabrication.

         Proper implementation of OSHA requirements. Must have working knowledge and training of safety requirements as well as an understanding of how to properly interact with regulatory agencies and inspectors. Must have a clear understanding of their responsibilities and liabilities as being the “responsible person” on site.

         Oversee the maintenance of the Engineering Library including drawings, work instructions, work flow charts, quality inspection criteria, and computer programs for manufacturing equipment.

         Initiate and implement production and scheduling programs, strategies and techniques that result in increased productivity, and maintain safe operations of the plant while managing expenses.

         Manage the performances of subordinate personnel, work independently, meet deadlines and manage the plant with fiscal integrity.

         Delegate responsibilities – Plant Manager must be able to objectively evaluate the performance of subordinates and must be able to hold others accountable in a constructive manner.

         Communicate with staff which includes designers/programmers, manufacturing foremen, equipment operators, office personnel (purchasing, inventory control, etc.), and laborers.

         Supervise team to maintain production and efficiency. Schedule production and execute preventative maintenance routines. Keep a local supply of maintenance and repair parts inventory.

         Maintain sufficient raw material inventory levels at site to meet production requirements.

         Consistently identify new operational opportunities and develop strategies for improving efficiency and productivity. Bring these new opportunities and strategies to the attention of Corporate Group Management.

         Coordinate safety issues and investigate incidents with designated company management. Ensure environmental compliance, rehabilitation and permit obligations are being met and any problems are being addressed. Plant Manager must bring any compliance issues to the attention of Corporate Group Management.


 

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED

         Good communication and interpersonal skill coupled with good negotiation, planning, scheduling and people management ability.

         The ability to recognize production problems and the experience to solve those problems.    Good knowledge of Robotic Load/Unload Laser Cutters (or Turret Punches), press brakes (preferably programmable/robotic), automated spot welders, roll formers, powder coat line.

         Ability to motivate plant personnel to meet production goals while maintaining the integrity of the safety program.

         Needs to have a good working knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulic systems, water systems, pumps, motors, conveyors, and air systems.

         Must be a decision-maker that constantly incorporates common business sense into the decision-making process.

         Understand the need to keep company information private and disclose information to associates only as appropriate.

         Material handling knowledge essential.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Field of Study:  Minimum of BA/BS in Management or Engineering

Work Experience:  7 years Plant Manager, COO or CEO experience directing a $5 million or more size metal manufacturing company.

Manufacturing Equipment Knowledge: Robotic Load/Unload Laser Cutters (or Turret Punches), press brakes (preferably programmable/robotic), automated spot welders, roll formers, powder coat line.

Leadership Experience: This position will oversee a team of approximately 10-15 employees. Previous experience managing a team of similar or larger size is preferred.

Computer and Software Skills: Computer proficiency required.  SolidWorks proficiency a plus.
