Job Description:

Lucas Group is searching for a certified NDT LIII Technical Leader who will join the team developing automated inspection solutions and analytics services for our large Oil and Gas client.  The NDT LIII will establish techniques/procedures and interpret codes and standards for critical Oil & Gas assets. 

With knowledge of O&G structures, NDT technology and risk based inspection the NDT LIII develop application solutions for automated inspection of critical assets and will lead the training and development of procedures and processes for proper Inspection.  The NDT LIII will also help define requirements for new Inspection Software and Services offerings designed to improve risk based inspection and asset life.

The candidate’s deep knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry and inspection applications will be key in the development of next generation technology and services, new asset specific inspections, and the resulting processes and protocols.

  • This position will be key in driving global growth and will solve some of O&G biggest inspection problems.  
  • Establish inspection techniques and procedures that will be used to perform inspections at O&G Down, Mid & Upstream.
  • Use expert knowledge of NDT methods’ strengths and limitations to ensure the proper inspection type is being utilized for the job scope requirements.
  • Collaborate with the engineering organization for the development of New Service Inspection (NSI) programs.
  • Gather strategic information from the field and recommend product development enhancements/customizations to Sales, Product Management, and/or Engineering Management.
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project.
  • Understand and interpret codes, standards and specifications related to NDT inspections in given industrial environment.
  • Train and mentor technicians in current methods and new technology.  Perform compliance audits of in-field inspectors.
  • Review incoming reports and oversee data quality to ensure that they meet all procedural and code requirements.
  • Oversee written practice and certification programs.

         Interface with the Quality Assurance management team to develop procedures for new technology and implement a program for training/certification of technicians.   Ensure high procedural compliance & performance in front of customers.  Assist the Team Leader in solving systemic technical issues.

         Become highly cross-trained across multiple product platforms & technologies, while maintaining depth in a core subject. 

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • B. S. or B. A. in Engineering or related technical area
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Oil & Gas Engineering & Integrity Management
  • Level III ASNT certification in one or more NDT methods, UT, ET, VT, MT, PT. RT
  • Experience with mechanical integrity and asset management programs and requirements’
  • Downstream Oil and Gas

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • API 580/581/571/510/570//579/653 Certified. Minimum of 5 years experience conducting inspections to each standard.
  • Preferred candidates will come from a downstream Refining background.
  • Extensive experience in LIII inspections in the oil and gas industry (Downstream and Upstream preferred)
  • Proven skills in project management
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Experience approaching/evaluating a problem from many angles.
  • Competent with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience reading prints.
  • Strong leadership skills.  Excellent client service, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel in the US and Internationally.  Approximately 30-40%.
